Special Issue Information

This special issue will focus on fascinating phenomena and sustainable processes involving light. Special attention will be given to experimental approaches to key concepts of photochemistry in close connection with basic concepts of general chemistry. Based on the assumption that light will become one the most important form of sustainable energy generation in the 21st century, photoprocesses should be given a key role in science education at schools and universities as soon as possible. Especially for the young generation, i.e. for the scientists, engineers and technicians of tomorrow, the teaching of future-relevant contents and basic concepts of photochemistry is eminently necessary. In this sense, research in chemistry education is challenged to close the gap between the state of the art in science and technology and science education.
